On 27 July 2026, OIKOS Hope Foundation organised a community-focused child protection awareness event themed “Identifying Sexual Predators and Preventing Sexual Crimes Against Children”.
The event brought together children, parents, teachers, caregivers and wider community stakeholders to strengthen understanding of child sexual abuse, warning signs, boundaries, safe disclosure responses, and the responsibilities of adults and institutions.
A whole-community responsibility
Preventing abuse cannot be the responsibility of children alone. We emphasized listening to children, responding calmly and appropriately to disclosures, preventing victim-blaming and using safe, appropriate reporting and referral pathways.
Participants received safeguarding awareness messages; the event did not substitute for specialist protection or investigative services.
